This 2008 Student Project & Research Symposium (SP&RS) is open to all City College students.  Participants will be given the opportunity to present their original projects and research through posters, oral presentations, spoken word, artistic displays and performances.

Interested students are invited to submit an application for this annual symposium.  Please read all information below before applying.

Applications are due by
Friday, April 11, 2008.

The Symposium is co-sponsored by the City College Academic Senate.

Guidelines

  • Students must work with a faculty mentor before submitting an application. The faculty mentor must review the completed application before it is submitted.
  • Only online registration will be accepted. Completed applications must be sent to (cityt5@sdccd.edu).  Registration closes Friday, April 11, 2008 at
    11:59 p.m.
Late applications will not be accepted.

  • Students can choose either a poster or oral presentation. Other presentations, including spoken word, artistic displays, performances, etc. must be coordinated directly with the Symposium Organizers.

  • All applications received on or before April 11 will be reviewed by the Symposium Organizing Committee. The Committee reserves the right to "accept" or "not accept" applications. You will be sent an e-mail confirmation with your application status.

  • Poster presentations: Posters must be displayed between 9 am and 2 pm. Presenters are expected to adjust their schedules to remain with their posters as much as possible to answer any questions and discuss their research with attendees. Exceptions are made for attending classes. Please see the "Poster Guidelines (PDF)" for detailed instructions. Faculty mentors must review and approve the final posters before they are presented. Please plan to set-up your poster in Gorton Quad between 7 am and 9 am on the day of the symposium.

  • Oral presentations: Oral presentations will be scheduled between 10 am and 1 pm. Oral presentations are limited to 6 minutes. Time limits will be enforced. Faculty mentors must review and approve the final oral presentations and PowerPoint's before they are presented. The Symposium Organizers will coordinate the presentation schedule with all presenters.

  • Approximately 2 weeks prior to the Symposium, you will receive a reminder
    e-mail with any status updates.
