Listings for paid positions
are in the "Career and Job Information" area and listings for
unpaid internship positions
are in the "Work Experience" area. You can also use the links on the
right side of this screen to search for jobs and internships using the
Internet.
Internships
are temporary positions with a company or agency that are intended to
give you experience in a career field of interest. Internships are
usually unpaid positions. If they are paid, it is usually at a
relatively low level.
In
some career fields, it is very difficult to get hired in a paid position
without significant internship experience. In other career fields,
internship experience is a requirement to obtain a certification or
license to practice in that field.
