Services
The Tutorial/Learning Center (TLC) offers
tutoring in the majority of courses taught at San Diego City
College, except English. English tutoring is conducted at the
English Writing Center located at L-209.
We
provide the following services at TLC:
Walk-in
Tutoring
Available for high demand subjects and with unlimited hours.
Walk-in tutoring is a setting where a tutor may work in helping
more than one student at a time in a variety of subjects of
his/her areas of competency. This type of tutoring is suitable
for a student to ask brief questions to a tutor on a
specific subject. Walk-in schedule is available at the front
desk.
One-on-One Appointments
Provides a student with individualized assistance on a subject
with a qualified tutor. Each appointment is scheduled for 30
minutes. Students are limited to two 30 mine appointments per
week per subject. Appointments can be scheduled up to 10 days in
advance based on availability. The appointments are NOT
ongoing. Student must schedule additional appointments with
front desk staff.
Online
Tutoring
Gives the student the freedom to receive assistance from a tutor
at their own convenience from their home or any other location
where they may have access to the Internet. To receive this
service, the tutee must be a current student at City College or
ECC and also be registered at the Tutorial/Learning Center.
Academic
Skills Workshops
Workshops are one hour long and are offered twice a week. They
are geared to help strengthen learning skills such as: Time
Management, Reading and Note-Taking, Test-taking and
Test-Anxiety, Memory Techniques, etc. For more information and
to check for dates and times please, call or stop by our front
desk.
*Some
instructors may award extra credit points for attending.
Computer
Lab
The new state of the art computer lab is equipped with twenty
computers. Available on a first-come first-serve basis ONLY
for school related activities.
Study
groups
Tutor - facilitated study groups of four or more students in the
same subject can be established by student request. Reservation
depends on tutor and room availability. Reserve study room at
front desk.
Math Cram
Jam
It is a Math department final review for Math 38, 46 and 96.
Conducted by a tutor. Offered at the end the semester. Reserve
your spot at the front desk.
