Computer Information Systems covers a number of jobs involving computers: Computer Operators monitor and control computer data processors using tapes and printouts to check for errors and computer malfunctions. Computer Operations Managers supervise the operation and maintenance of computer systems, schedule jobs to be run, maximize computer efficiency and interact with computer operators, data center users, supervisors and managers. Systems Analysts develop computer systems to process data and solve business, scientific or engineering problems. They write reports and program specifications and produce flowcharts. Business Programmers develop and maintain computer programs used in accounting, payroll and information management.

Experience:
Employers require two years of community college or university training in computer science and computer and data processing experience, but prefer an A.S. or B.A. degree in Computer Science. Best opportunities exist for those who know multiple operating systems and several computer programming languages.
