Why City College:
  • Special classes for programs in computer assembly, computer repair and A+ certification are available both day and evening.
  • City College computer labs have the latest equipment and software.
  • Computer labs are available for students both during and outside of class hours.
  • City College is centrally located in downtown San Diego with easy access to major freeways, the San Diego Trolley and major bus lines.
  • Enrollment fees are lowest of any college, university or technical school in California.

The City College Computer Information Systems program prepares computer information system professionals to design, implement, operate and maintain computer information systems. The computer field is fast-changing with newly developing areas such as Internet Web page design. Students may earn certificates or associate degrees in Computer Science to qualify for entry-level jobs in the computer industry.

Excellent Opportunities for Men and Woman:
In the fast-changing field of computers a willingness to keep up with new developments can lead to rewarding careers for both men and women. Opportunities exist in computer repair sales and repair and in software design.

Departmental Tips:

  • Most classes include both lectures and time in the computer lab.
  • Access to computers off-campus is helpful,, but not required.
  • Classes offered by the Business, Math and Computer Business Technology departments complement the CIS curriculum and are highly recommended.
