San Diego Community College District strictly adheres to the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). This procedure specifies limitations on federal and state law, and ensures that appropriate record maintenance and destruction systems are in place.
Pursuant to the “Family Rights and Privacy Act of 1974” (Public Law 93-380) and the California Education Code, a student may request to inspect all official school records, files, and related data that are classified as Student Records. The records will be available for review at a mutually convenient time during regular working hours. Contact the Vice President, Student Services. If information in the file is inaccurate, misleading, or inappropriate, a sutdent may request removal of the information or include a statement disputing thematerial that is challenged. The law provides that no individual, agency, or organization shall have access to a student’s records without the written consent of the student.
