For those looking to earn an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing, RegisteredNursing.org, a leading resource for the nursing industry, has ranked San Diego City College a top nursing school in California for 2024.
For the second year in a row, City College retained its position as the number two degree program for nursing. A few other San Diego colleges and universities are among the top of the list, including Grossmont College at #6 and University of San Diego at #16 out of 130 state colleges and universities.
City College offers a competitive Associate of Science Degree in Nursing (ADN) and a licensed vocational nurse (LVN) to registered nurse (RN) program. At City, students focus on health advocacy during patient illness and maintenance. Admission to the program is by special application, ensuring that graduates are well prepared for the healthcare field. Upon successful completion of program requirements, graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).

Institutions earning the RegisteredNursing.org designation were evaluated using the RN Ranking Methodology, criteria and weightings were determined by NCLEX-RN exam pass rates, and how effectively a program supports students in their journey toward licensure and beyond.
Based on NCLEX-RN pass rates, City College scored 99.09 just .72 points behind Sierra College who scored 99.81.

Dr. Armstrong was selected by the San Diego Community College’s Management Association as the 2024 Manager of the Year.
