San Diego City College Nursing Program Ranks No. 5 in California

October 11, 2022

San Diego City College Nursing Program ranks fifth in the state for best nursing school in California, according to RegisteredNursing.org.

Nursing programs were assessed on several factors which represent how well a program supports students towards licensure and beyond. RegisterNursing.organalyzed past and present first-time National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX RN) pass rates, weighted by year.

“This is an amazing honor for our nursing program to be ranked fifth with RegisteredNursing.org,” said Dr. Dometrives Armstrong, associate dean of the Nursing Education program. “This is a testament to all the hard work and dedication of our nursing faculty and classified professionals. They do so much to support our students and to ensure they are competent and safe when serving our community.”

For academic years 2019-20 and 2020-21, with both years having a cohort of 52 nursing students, the NCLEX RN pass rate was 100%.

From RegisteredNuring.org: Selecting the best nursing school in California can be difficult. To make the process easier first look for a school that supports students towards licensure and beyond. A great way to measure this is through NCLEX RN pass rates. We have ranked the top 20 nursing schools in California by analyzing current and historical NCLEX RN pass rates, meaning the percentage of graduates who pass the exam, out of the 131 RN programs in the state. Programs reviewed include schools that offer an Associate in Nursing (ADN/ASN), BSN, or Direct-Entry MSN Degree.
