Louise Nicolei Perez: From the Philippines to San Diego City College
After a campus tour led her to City College, one student found a welcoming community and a new direction for her future. Originally planning to become a pilot, she shifted her focus to nursing and now works as a certified nursing assistant while preparing for City’s nursing program. Her story highlights how a sense of belonging and opportunity can shape a student’s entire path.

Brandon Charlens: Student/Athlete Now Shining at SDSU
After facing life-threatening medical challenges as a child, one student found strength, purpose, and community at San Diego City College. His time at City helped him grow academically and personally, eventually leading to a successful transfer to SDSU to pursue a career in counseling. His story is a testament to resilience, second chances, and the transformative power of community college.
