2024 Commencement Celebrations

We want to celebrate you! Click here for a list of 2024 Commencement Celebrations. These events are hosted by City College programs and departments that represent our multiple, diverse communities at City. 

To Order Cap & Gown Regalia from the San Diego City College Bookstore:

Commencement 2024 regalia will be provided FREE to San Diego City College students. Please review the information below for instructions.

Students can visit the San Diego City Bookstore in person starting Wednesday, May 1st, bring your Student ID card or valid picture ID (have SID# ready) to the bookstore to request a free cap and gown. You can also place an online order, visit the City Bookstore webpage, however, you will need to pay the $10.00 shipping fee. Honor cords and SDCC stoles are available for purchase.

Have You Checked Your Graduation Status?

You may view your graduation status by logging into mySDCCD (https://myportal.sdccd.edu/) and going to the My Academics section, loctaed on the left-hand side of your student portal.

Graduation Deadlines

Graduation is not automatic upon completion of requirements.

Feb 15, 2024	Deadline to apply for Graduation for students completing an Associate Degree for Transfer and transferring to a CSU in Fall 2024.
March 15, 2024	Deadline to apply for Graduation and ensure that your name appears in the official commencement program.
April 30, 2024	Deadline to apply for Graduation for students completing an associate degree in Spring 2024.

Submit a Petition for Graduation

Apply for graduation though your MySDCCD portal. Under My Academics on the left-hand side of your student portal, click Apply for Graduation next to your program/major name. Please note that if you do not see your degree and/or certificate displayed, please meet with a counselor to add or remove the appropriate academic plan(s). Be sure to click SUBMIT at the end. Students must complete a minimum of 12 degree applicable units at the college granting the associate degree. If you have any questions regarding your submission of your petition, please contact our Evaluations Office. For more information regarding your academic plan, please contact the Counseling Department or go to https://sdcity.edu/students/counseling/index.aspx.

Official Diploma

Expect your official diploma via U.S. mail within eight weeks after the end of the semester. Diplomas are issued after completion and verification of graduation requirements and sent to name and address on record
