Founded in 2016, City Women Rock was initially designed as a one-day summit focused
on women, to inspire, encourage, and empower our students to complete their educational
goals. The initiative seeks to provide students with ongoing information, motivation,
and preparation for academic success and goal completion. The program also includes
self-care awareness for San Diego City College women students who serve in multiple
roles as leaders and caregivers within their home and college communities.
Since 2016, the program has expanded its efforts significantly. We launched the CWR
Club, a student-run organization that aims to continue the program's objectives throughout
the year. The club will focus on empowering San Diego City College women to continue
their education with a focus on improving student success indicators such as retention
persistence and course completion. The major themes of CWR are ignite, inspire, empower,
and lead. These efforts will assist San Diego City College women students for equitable
advancement in the social, political, and economic aspects of society.
