This page is dedicated to sharing professional learning opportunities designed for Classified Professionals at San Diego City College. Activities are designed collaboratively between the Office of Professional Learning, the Professional Learning Council, and the Classified Senate (through the Classified Senate Professional Learning Committee). 


Activities

Spotlight: Compassion It! Training

This four-week program will help you strengthen mindfulness, self-compassion, and connection—skills that improve workplace well-being, collaboration, and resilience. Participants explore practical, research-based tools to manage stress, respond effectively in challenging situations, and foster a more compassionate work culture. Dates/Times: 10/3, 10, 17, 24 from 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM in R-113

Register

Occurs every June to celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of classified professionals at San Diego City College. The week includes award recognition, professional learning, and community building activities. Please view the Classified Appreciation Week page for more info. 

First Fridays are designed to meet Classified Professionals professional learning needs. Themes and activities are created by Professional Learning in collaboration with your Classified Senate representatives. Details can be found on the Professional Learning Google calendar. 

The Career Pathways Series is a professional learning initiative open to all City College employees. It provides opportunities to learn or enhance workplace skills while fostering collaboration and a sense of belonging across campus. Events aim to inspire and equip participants with the knowledge and motivation needed for career advancement and leadership roles within the campus community and beyond. Administrative Professionals

Each month of the semester the Administrative Professionals group hosts a virtual "lunch & learn" learning session on various topics. You may reach out to Angelle Maua or Marco Anzures to be included in the calendar invite.

Join a Club!

The Classified Senate invites you to build community through shared interest by joining or starting an employee club. Current clubs are:

  • Gardening Club (Mondays & Thursdays from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM at Seeds@City Urban Farm between the R-Building and C Building
  • Knitting Group
  • Book Club
  • Movie Club
