Were You Impacted by the Storm?
City of San Diego residents and businesses who experienced flooding during Monday’s storm can report damage through the County of San Diego’s online survey.
If you experienced property damage during Monday’s storm, you are encouraged to work directly with your insurance provider.
Shelter Information
The Red Cross has established an emergency shelter at Lincoln High School, 4777 Imperial Ave., for anyone impacted by flooding and storm damage.
Homelessness
A temporary shelter has been established at the Balboa Park Activity Center, due to flooding at multiple City homelessness shelter locations, including:
- 16th and Newton Bridge Shelter
- 20th and B Safe Sleeping site
The Inclement Weather Shelter Program has been activated for the evening of Monday, Jan. 22. Individuals experiencing homeless can show up directly at the locations to gain access to a bed. For a list of locations, visit the Inclement Weather Shelter Program webpage.
Sandbag Locations
If needed, sandbags are available at the following recreation centers. Sandbags are limited to 10 bags per City of San Diego household or business, and sand is not provided.

Prior to the storm, City crews were deployed clearing storm drains and doing other prep work to help reduce flood risk citywide. Ahead of any storm, it is crucial to have an emergency plan in place.
