Learning Community Programs
San Diego City College offers learning communities and programs where students take linked courses such as math and English, build supportive relationships, and explore topics connected to identity, community, and academic success while building a strong foundation for transfer. Learning communities are open to all students who may benefit.

According to the California Transfer Support Network, students involved in the Puente Program transfer at rates up to 13% higher than those not participating in Puente. Source.
Academic Support Programs
San Diego City College offers academic support programs that help students deepen their learning and strengthen their preparation for transfer. Through mentorship, academic enrichment, and hands-on learning, students can further explore their field of study, build community, and gain experiences that support their transfer and career goals.

In addition to learning communities, San Diego City College offers a range of academic and support programs designed to help students explore career pathways and prepare for transfer. Many of these programs provide personal, academic & career counseling and other resources that strengthen both academic and personal success.

- Promise Program for up to two years of college tuition free
- Undocumented Resource Center
According to the Umoja Community Education Foundation, students who participate in
Umoja programs are 25% more likely to stay in college and succeed in their courses
at rates 10–12% higher than non-Umoja students from similar backgrounds.
